It might be an imaginary in-between zone, experienced and seen through the eyes of a visitor, who remains anonymous, as they navigate the damp and narrow cave passages, pulled toward the unknown. There are the irregularly flickering lights, echoing the half-transmitted signals, the abrupt periods of blackout and disquieting silence, and the almost unnoticeable peripheral distortions. That disturbing, otherworldly atmosphere is simultaneously arresting and frightening, the habitat for the uncanny, phantom-alike formations emerging out of the shadow. And there’s something constantly escaping the gaze…

Filmed in Batu Caves, Selangor, and Gunung Mulu National Park, Sarawak, Borneo, Malaysia.
